There is no other program quite like the Bezos Scholars Program, which is a transformative, year-long, no-cost leadership development program that amplifies youth voice and action so that young people who are passionate about making a difference can begin doing so right away.
Bezos Scholars are chosen on an annual basis from a pool of outstanding high school juniors from both the United States and Africa. Twelve of the students come from the United States, while five come from Africa.
Community Change Projects are at the heart of the curriculum. Scholars, with our assistance, are tasked with conceiving up new solutions to pressing issues and then putting those ideas into action through the course of the program.

Requirements
Students must meet the following requirements to be considered for their program:
- Attend a qualifying public high school in the United States with a free and reduced lunch rate of 30% or higher.
- Be a junior at the time of application to the program.
- Be enrolled in or have taken one or more honors, Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or college-level courses during their high school experience.
- You must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have DACA status.
- Be available to fully participate in the year-long program and attend all dates for the Aspen Ideas Festival trip, which is scheduled for June 23 – June 29, 2023, in Aspen, Colorado.
- Nominate an educator, a willing and supportive adult from their school, who will actively participate in the program and accompany them on the trip to Aspen.

Bezos Scholars are excellent students. They have taken difficult classes and have done remarkably well overall. Scholars are intellectually curious as well. They seek to push the limits of their learning both inside and outside of the classroom.
- Leadership and community involvement must be demonstrated.
We are looking for passionate young people who are rising leaders in their schools and communities and who, through their actions and commitment, inspire and motivate those around them.
Bezos Scholars are self-directed, creative thinkers. They appreciate putting their ideas into action. They lead with humility, compassion, and a strong desire to serve people and the planet.

Bezos Scholars are eager to advance their talents and community involvement. They can juggle community service, academics, extracurricular interests, and family obligations.
Scholars typically have great presentation and public speaking skills; they can explain concepts and ideas while remaining truly themselves, even if speaking in front of others is not their first choice.
They thrive in collaborative environments, where they can collaborate with and learn from others. And they like to explore new things and challenge preconceived views about what youth can do and what they can do personally to make a difference.
Worth
Those who are successful in their application will each get $1,000 to use toward the project of their choice.

Deadline For The Bezos Scholars Program
The Bezos Scholars Program will begin accepting applications on October 26, 2022, and will continue to do so until January 12, 2023.
Candidates are informed of their status by the beginning of March each year, and scholars are chosen by the middle of April each year. An announcement to the general public about the new Scholar cohort was made on their website in early May. October of each year marks the reopening of application submissions.
