Scholarships from the Foundation can only be used at institutions that meet the following criteria: 

 

• They must be listed by the United States Department of Education as being accredited by recognized accrediting agencies; they must have a regular faculty and curriculum; they must have a regularly organized body of students in attendance at the place where the educational activities are carried out; and they must be accredited by recognized accrediting agencies. • Students are required to sign a statement affirming that they did not compete in intercollegiate athletics as a student-athlete (whether on a partial or full athletic scholarship or otherwise) during the previous semester (or quarter, if applicable) or academic year and that they will not compete in intercollegiate athletics as a student-athlete during the upcoming semester (or quarter, if applicable) or academic year. This statement must be made both before and after the student enrolls in the program.
• Students who intend to achieve their degrees solely through online or other forms of distance learning are ineligible for scholarships offered by the Jimmy Rane Foundation.;*
• A grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0 is required for high school seniors who are graduating;
• Students who are enrolled full-time as high school seniors and are making normal progress toward graduation in the Spring/Summer of 2023, with plans to enter college no later than the Fall following graduation OR students who are enrolled full-time as college freshmen or sophomores and are no older than 20 years of age as of August 1, 2023, and are making normal progress toward a bachelor’s degree; Students who meet both of these criteria are eligible for the scholarship.
• 2.75 or higher is required as a minimum grade point average (GPA) for college candidates;
• All applicants are required to have a place of residence (permanent home address) in one of the following states or the District of Columbia: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, or West Virginia.
• Citizenship in the United States or permanent residency in the country are prerequisites for taking classes online or through distance learning. Online or distance learning classes may be taken if a particular course cannot be taken on campus and is only offered online or through distance learning.
• Students who demonstrate academic brilliance, leadership qualities, and community involvement in addition to activities, awards, and accolades, and who have a demonstrable financial need in order to attend college can be considered for a scholarship from the Jimmy Rane Foundation.
