How do I know if I’m eligible?
Before applying for the scholarship, all applicants must meet the following requirements:
- You must be a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident with an I-551-stamped permanent resident card or passport.
- You must be a permanent resident (5 years or more) and have a permanent address in one of the 30 counties in South or West Texas.
- Before applying for the scholarship, you must have earned/completed at least 12 undergraduate credit hours at a U.S. accredited college or university (Dual and Advanced Placement credits accepted.).
- Have a college cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.7 on a 4.0 scale.
- Have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent prior to the start of the new academic year in the fall.
- Are enrolled in a two-year community college in the United States
- Are enrolled in a degree-seeking program at a U.S. accredited two-year community college (part-time or full-time) or a four-year university undergraduate program (enrolled full-time) seeking a Bachelor’s Degree or a graduate program at a university (enrolled full-time) pursuing a Master’s, Juris Doctorate, or Doctorate degree.
What are the documents needed for the scholarship?
To be able to apply for the scholarship, students must provide the following documents:
- Completed Application
- Signed Certification and Release Form
- Official College/University Transcript (Reflecting Fall 2022 grades or last enrolled semester grades.)
- All pages of the 2022/2023 Student Aid Report (SAR)
- 1 page (minimum) Personal Statement
- Please do not send additional documents (i.e. letters of recommendation, resumes, photos or copies ofawards).
