Each year, the Skagit Valley College Foundation gives eligible students a wide range of Skagit County Scholarships opportunities, including those based on merit and those based on financial need. The eligibility requirements for scholarships are outlined in the following list; however, additional regulations may also be in effect. Unless otherwise specified, scholarships are intended to help students attend Skagit Valley College and further their education.
Each year, the SVC Foundation, which is one of the Skagit County Scholarships, gives away more than $500,000 to more than 300 students. This is made possible by the kindhearted community of donors who have contributed to the growth of a robust endowment for the Skagit County Scholarships. This is astounding, despite the fact that there are still a great many student needs that are not being satisfied.

SVC Foundation Scholarships
Each academic year, the Skagit Valley College Foundation provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to deserving students. The people who are providing funding for this scholarship have an incredible donor community.
The application period is only available once every year, from January to March on average. On March 6th, the application period for the SVC Foundation Scholarship will come to a conclusion for this year.
Early in the month of May, decisions regarding scholarship awards will be sent to the students who submitted an application for the current school year. The email address that was used to sign in will be the one that receives all notices, reminders, and other emails. It is up to the student to make sure that it is checked on a frequent basis.

Community Scholarships
The community partner of Skagit Valley College, Futures Northwest, is a one-stop shop that provides information on local and community scholarships available in the counties of Whatcom, Skagit, and Island. Simply visit www.futuresnw.org, scroll down to the “scholarship” section, and you’ll have access to their comprehensive database of available financial aid opportunities.
SVC Writing Center
Students who need assistance with scholarship applications or essays can stop by the SVC Writing Center at any time to receive in-person instruction. A scholarship application essay is not the same as an academic essay in any way, and the best way to learn the differences between the two is to speak with a consultant. Students also have the option of obtaining support online by going to www.skagit.mywconline.com.

Skagit County Scholarships Available for the 2022-2023 Academic Year
Scholarships from the Semillas de Esperanza Foundation are available to undocumented or DACA students attending high school in Skagit County.
The Roger and Lea Rae Reep Scholarship is open to graduating seniors from Mount Vernon High School.
Otto Walberg Memorial Scholarship is awarded to graduating high school softball players in Skagit County who participated in the sport of softball.
Allen Lowe Memorial Scholarship is available to graduating students from Mt. Vernon High School or La Conner High School.
The Alice Suave/P.E.O. Chapter G.B. Scholarship is available to female students attending Mount Vernon High School.
The Virginia Carlson Scholarship is available to high school seniors who are residents of the Lake McMurray Fire District.
Clarence and Eileen Summers Scholarship is available to high school students who are active members of either the First Baptist Church or the Cascade Christian Church.
Students from Skagit or Island Counties who are planning to pursue a career in medicine are encouraged to submit applications for the James Beckner, M.D. Medical Scholarship through the Dollars for Scholars website of the Burlington Edison Alumni Foundation. Skagit County Scholarships Tuition payments over $250 per quarter
The college will receive the cash for the tuition straight away. Once we have received his or her official transcript from the first year confirming compliance with the grade point average and course load criteria, only then will payments be processed for the second year of study.
A cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 must be maintained by college and university scholarship holders of consecutive year grants, and recipients must maintain this average while taking a minimum of 10 credits every quarter.
The Wallace Sigmar Scholarship provides financial assistance with tuition costs as well as a book stipend of up to $250 per academic quarter. The beneficiary is responsible for reporting the accurate cost of required books and materials to the Board of Directors in order to be eligible for the book reimbursement, which will be granted according to the “honor system.”
Payment for tuition will be made in a manner that is not indirect to the educational institution or program. Only once we have received the student’s official transcript from their first year confirming that they have satisfied the grade point average and course load requirements will payments for subsequent years be made. After receiving a scholarship, recipients have a year to put their newfound knowledge to use.
