The application period for the Sachs Foundation’s Undergraduate and Graduate Scholarships begins on January 1 and lasts until March 15 each year. 

Any senior in high school in the state of Colorado who identifies as Black is eligible to apply for undergraduate scholarships. Graduate scholarships are available to any former Sachs Scholar who has graduated from their undergraduate program within the past three years.

The application form can be accessed online through the link provided below between the 1st of January and the 15th of March of each year. You will be expected to provide the following materials as part of your application, so make sure you have them ready.

  • Your complete transcript from high school
  • Two letters of recommendation written by individuals who are not related to you are required.
  • A personal statement that is one page long and a supplementary essay response that is between 350 and 500 words.
  • Your Student Aid Report, often known as the SAR. If you haven’t already done so, you can get your SAR by filling out your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov, even if you haven’t done so in the past.
  • An additional personal file pertaining to your artistic endeavors, professional endeavors, or educational experiences (optional).

 

For Graduates:

The Sachs Foundation Graduate Scholarship is available to former Sachs Foundation undergraduate scholarship recipients who will, or have, received their undergraduate degree within the last three years. The scholarship is awarded in the amount of $10,000 per year for up to four years, depending on the course of study.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be a former Sachs Foundation undergraduate scholarship recipient.
  • Have received their undergraduate degree within the last three years.
  • Be enrolled full-time in a graduate program at an accredited college or university.
  • Maintain a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Submit a complete application, including:
  • A full college or university transcript
  • One letter of recommendation from a professor, counselor, dean, coach, etc., at their college or university
  • A personal statement and additional essay response (350-500 words)
  • Their Student Aid Report (SAR)
