The Davidson Fellow Scholarship dates back to 1993, when it was founded by the prestigious Davidson Institute of Talent Development. Eligibility For the Davidson Fellow Scholarship

To qualify as a potential Davidson Fellow, applicants must adhere to the following criteria:


Age Requirement: Applicants should be 18 years old or younger as of the application deadline. This age restriction ensures eligibility for consideration.


Residency Status: Eligibility is extended to U.S. citizens who are either residing within the United States or individuals holding Permanent Residency in the United States while also residing within its borders. Moreover, those stationed overseas due to active U.S. military duty are also eligible to apply.


Age Minimum: Notably, there is no specified minimum age threshold for eligibility. All ages within the 18 and under category are welcome to apply.


Team Eligibility: Collaborative efforts are recognized and valued. Teams comprising two members are eligible to apply, with the prerequisite that both team participants meet the aforementioned eligibility standards.


Recognition Event Attendance: Successful Davidson Fellows are required to participate in the awards reception and other recognition events scheduled for September in Washington, DC. It is expected that the awardee, accompanied by one parent or guardian, will attend these events. It’s important to note that the Davidson Institute will provide travel expenses and lodging accommodations for these events.



The allocation of scholarships is contingent upon the recognition of substantial achievements. To qualify as “significant work,” these accomplishments must be acknowledged by field experts as having meaningful implications and the potential to bring about positive societal change. Notable examples of such work encompass:


  • Exceptional Application of Existing Knowledge: Showcasing an incredibly imaginative and inventive use of established information or techniques.
  • High-Impact Novel Concept: Introducing an original idea with the capacity to create a profound influence within the domain.
  • Innovative Solution with Far-Reaching Implications: Developing a revolutionary resolution that holds extensive significance.
  • Crucial Advancement Open to Replication and Expansion: Pioneering a noteworthy progression that serves as a foundation for further development.

  • Remarkable Performance: Attaining remarkable feats, particularly in areas such as the arts or sports.

Details for Team Submissions:


  • Team Size Restriction: Team submissions are confined to a maximum of two members.
  • Age Stipulation: Both members of the team must be 18 years old or younger by the application deadline, which falls on February 15, 2023.
  • Compulsory Attendance: If selected, both team members are required to participate in any in-person awards events.
  • Equitable Scholarship Distribution: In the case of team submissions, the scholarship funds will be equitably divided between the two team members.
  • Nominator Requirement: Similar to individual applications, team submissions necessitate the involvement of two nominators.

How to Apply

Here are the steps involved in the application process:


  • Submit the initial portion of the application.
  • Once the initial portion of your application is approved, you will receive an email notification alerting you that you can continue with your application.
  • In part two of the application, you will input your nominator’s information and send them their nominating forms.
  • Carefully read the SAMPLE Nominating Form (PDF) so you can choose the best nominators to support your submission.
  • Additionally, in part two, you will input a parent’s information and send them their parent approval form(s). NOTE: only one parent approval form is required. If it is a team submission, one parent form is required per team member.



They give out $50,000, $25,000, and $10,000 scholarships to gifted and high-achieving students who are 18 or younger and have accomplished a substantial piece of work.



The 2023 application deadline has passed. However, you can still submit the initial portion of the application for the 2024 scholarship. The sooner you submit the initial portion, the sooner your application can be approved, giving you and your nominators more time to complete nominating forms and application requirements.
