The Foreign and Commonwealth Office Awards Scheme, which launched in 1983 as the Chevening Scholarship, is supported by the government of the United Kingdom (FCOAS). It is a global scholarship program that covers 160 nations and territories and enables individuals with leadership skills to pursue postgraduate studies in UK universities. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the British Government, together with its affiliates, is in charge of supporting the Chevening scholarship program.
Two different types of rewards, such as Chevening Fellowships and Chevening Scholarships, are offered under the Chevening Scholarship Scheme. The recipients of both types of Chevening awards must be chosen solely by the British embassies and high commissions designated in various nations across the world.

Students from the target countries who possess strong leadership skills and a stellar academic record can apply through the Chevening Scholarship Scheme for postgraduate degrees and short-term courses at UK universities. The following criteria should be used to choose the courses:
- The courses you select must be among the following to be eligible:
- Full-time postgraduate study in any field of study
- Study Programs begin in the fall semester (often in September or October)
- Teaching Program (i.e. not research-focused MRes programmes)
- The chosen program must result in a postgraduate degree.

chevening scholarship pakistan- Benefits Of Chevening Scholarships University costs in 2023:
Chevening Scholarships will cover £18,000 of the tuition costs for a one-year postgraduate program. Any tuition for a postgraduate degree course in excess of this sum will be covered by the student’s own resources. The students will have to demonstrate that they have the resources necessary to cover any disparities in addition to the £18,000 in tuition that the university charges.
A monthly stipend: The Chevening Scholarship will only pay for your reasonable living costs, such as housing, utilities, food, and transportation. You will receive, on average, £70–125 per week for housing in shared housing or residence halls, £65–86 for utility bills (gas, water, electricity), £20–40 weekly for food, and £20–40 weekly for local commuting costs. The student will get their monthly stipend through cash card on the 21st of each month. Your monthly stipend should cover your medical and dental expenses as well; the Chevening Scholarship does not provide extra funding for medicines.
Travel costs to and from the UK are taken care of by the Chevening organizers, who will choose a travel agent and pay for the ticket when you book your journey upon scholarship confirmation.
Arrival allowance: The arrival allowance pays for any travel-related costs incurred to the UK. Your cash card will be charged with this amount. The arrival allowance also covers any excess baggage on your flight, the cost of your taxi from the airport to the university, and the cost of police registration when you arrive (if any).
A homeward departure cost: The homeward departure cost will cover the cost of your extra luggage on your return trip from the UK after finishing your programme of study there. It will be compensated in addition to your last stipend. Your final stipend and homeward allowance will be given to you once you have informed the Chevening organizers/program officer that you have reserved your return ticket through their certified travel agent.
One-time visa application fee: Once your scholarship has been verified, the Chevening Organizers will pay your one-time visa application fee to the embassy.
A travel grant to attend Chevening events in the UK: Students who wish to attend events in the UK that are linked to their study programme or area of expertise while on a Chevening fellowship will be given a total of £200 as a travel grant to do so for the duration of their stay.
The requirements for 2023 Chevening Scholarships for Pakistani Students
To qualify for a Chevening Scholarship, you must fulfill the following conditions:
- You are a citizen of a nation that qualifies for Chevening.
- Upon expiration of your Chevening award, you must return to your country of origin.
- You must possess a degree that is regarded as being on par with an undergraduate degree in the UK. Undergraduate degrees in the UK are equivalent to bachelor’s degrees, and holders of these degrees are allowed to apply for postgraduate admission.
- You need to have worked for at least two years. The length of the work experience should be five years for Chevening Fellowship. Consult the page for your country to get the full list of work experience requirements for Chevening Awards.
- Before July, you must submit applications for postgraduate degree programs at one to three UK universities and receive an unconditional letter of admission for each of these applied programs.
- You must pass an English language proficiency test with the required scores by July in order to fulfill Chevening’s English language requirements.
